Movie Deck for Plex

Movie Deck for Plex is a 3D media player in the media and video category from Egerter Software. It plays your Plex library from wherever you are and also handles other network and local sources, with a large set of options for the screen and room around you. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since December 15, 2023.

What you can do

• Sources: Plex streaming from anywhere, plus DLNA, SMB and files stored on the headset.
• Browsing: poster artwork or folder view, a 2D or 3D interface, ratings, a watchlist, watched status and filters with text search.
• Screen: set position, size, scale, tilt, aspect ratio and horizontal or vertical curve, and tune hue, brightness, contrast, saturation and gamma.
• Surroundings: several backgrounds including passthrough, a dimming option, and virtual seats in a cinema setting. In room-scale you can pin the screen in place and walk around or even through it.
• Formats: 180, 360, side-by-side and top/bottom videos recognized from the file name, adjustable curve for 180-degree video, 4K and higher, and transcoding.
• Audio and subtitles: multiple audio tracks, plus embedded and external SRT subtitles.
• AR mode: green-screen videos with the background removed.

Once a film starts you can hide the menus, set the controllers aside and just see your tracked hands, which lets you eat or drink without bumping the controls.

Comfort

Meta rates Movie Deck as comfortable for most people. It works sitting, standing or in room-scale mode. Inputs listed are controllers, a gamepad and hand tracking; the joysticks handle fast forward, rewind, pause and frame stepping.
