BATTLESCAR: Punk Was Invented By Girls is an animated VR film series in the media and video category from Atlas V, published by ARTE France. It is told in three parts with a total running time of about 30 minutes. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since January 14, 2021.
What you can do
The story is set in New York City in 1978. It opens with you hurrying through a run-down subway station as a train covered in graffiti tears past, while punk music fills the soundtrack.
From there you follow two teenage runaways. Lupe is a 16-year-old Puerto Rican American girl voiced by Rosario Dawson, and Debbie is a tough girl whose past is kept a mystery. Lupe is looking for somewhere to live, Debbie wants someone who understands her, and together they start a punk band and take on the city.
Battlescar was created by Martín Allais and Nico Casavecchia, with a story by Casavecchia and Mercedes Arturo. It was coproduced by Oculus, Arte France, Atlas V and RYOT, and produced by Atlas V, Albyon and 1STAveMachine with support from the CNC, Kaleidoscope, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is a film to watch from inside the scene rather than a game, so there are no puzzles or scores.
Comfort
Meta rates Battlescar as comfortable for most people. You can watch sitting, standing or in room-scale mode, and it uses Touch controllers.
