Richie's Plank Experience is a fear-of-heights simulation where you walk a plank 80 stories up, with extra modes for flying, sky painting and horror.
Richie's Plank Experience is a simulation game from Toast Interactive that tests how you cope with heights. You head up a city building and step out onto a narrow plank 80 stories above the street, which the developer says is designed to trigger strong emotions as quickly as possible. It came to the Meta Horizon Store on June 27, 2019.
How it plays
The plank walk itself is short, and it works well as something to hand to friends and family while you watch their reactions. Around it, the game adds several other modes:
- Hero Academy: three fast flying minigames with scores on global and local leaderboards, and updated support for controlling it with your hands.
- Nightmare Mode: a horror version meant to scare you or whoever is wearing the headset.
- Skybrush: a calmer mode where you paint rainbows across the sky.
- Santa Simulator: travel through a snowy city delivering presents.
Comfort
Meta rates Richie's Plank Experience intense, its strongest comfort warning. It supports room-scale play with controllers or hand tracking. The developer warns that it can affect your balance, cause dizziness and cloud your judgment, and asks players to follow the in-game safety guidelines. Play in a clear area, ideally with someone nearby, and read up on motion sickness if you are sensitive. The store listing also carries Meta's mixed reality safety notice, so keep your play area free of obstacles.
