Historic Crafts is a free VR experience where you learn traditional crafts through hands-on challenges and puzzles using 1:1 historical objects.
Historic Crafts is a free educational puzzle experience from Tidvis Utvikling, published by Tidvis AS. You learn old handcrafts by working through practical challenges, picking up the hands-on skills that each craft depends on. It came to the Meta Horizon Store on April 26, 2021.
How it plays
Each craft comes with a set of challenges and puzzles that reward trying things out, and completing them is meant to show you how the work was really done. Short tutorials at the start teach you how to handle objects and move around, which keeps this slow-paced adventure easy to get into.
The objects are 1:1 models created with 3D photogrammetry and based on careful research by historians. Their textures are tuned to show authentic workmanship, and the developer puts weight on historical accuracy so the experience can be used in teaching and for sharing history with the public.
This is a learning tool first: there is no combat or score chase described, only crafts to study and practice at your own pace.
Comfort
It supports seated, standing and room-scale play and is played with Touch controllers. Both continuous locomotion and teleporting are supported, so you can pick the movement style that suits you.
