DeadScope is a free early-release stealth horror game where you use a periscope-like device to spot demons and sneak past them unseen.
DeadScope is a stealth horror game from Me First Games, built specifically for VR. The studio pitches it as a horror and adventure game without gimmicks, and it is still at an early stage of development. It is distributed through SideQuest, where it was first listed in March 2020.
How it plays
Your main tool is the DeadScope itself, a periscope-style device kept on your chest. You pull it off and raise it to your face, the way you would use binoculars, to look over and around obstacles and locate demons. You can also hide in tall grass and brush and move unseen, a bit like a submarine using its periscope.
Stealth matters more than fighting. Demons react to what they see and hear, so long teleports make more noise and can give you away. You plan routes, stay out of sight, and pick up cans or books to throw as distractions. The listing names several enemy types:
- a giant demon around 30 feet tall that patrols the landscape and can crush you
- the Breather, which stretches out an arm to drag you in if you meet its gaze
- swamp creatures that patrol and give chase
- dark figures hidden in the grass whose screams draw attention
Comfort
Movement is by teleport, and the distance you jump affects how much noise you make. No SideQuest comfort rating is given.
