Cards & Tankards

Cards & Tankards is a collectible card game from Divergent Realities that pairs strategy with a social setting. The developer calls it the top social card game in VR, and it plays out in fantasy havens meant to feel like a local game shop. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on May 25, 2023.

How it plays

You build a collection from hundreds of cards and take it into player-versus-player and player-versus-environment battles. Booster packs can be opened together with friends, and the developer stresses that the game is designed to be fully free to play rather than pushing you to spend money.

• A Ranked Arena with global leaderboards for the best players
• Board games such as chess and checkers, for strategy fans who are not into card battlers
• A gentle learning curve, with community players keen to teach newcomers

Multiplayer

The store lists Cards & Tankards as multiplayer only, and an internet connection is required. The havens are social spaces where you meet other players, swap strategies and sit down for a match.

Comfort

Meta rates it comfortable for most people. It supports seated, standing and room-scale play and is played with controllers. Matches happen at a table, so it works well seated.
