Vertigo Games' zombie shooter sequel: fight through post-apocalyptic Arizona with your dog Buddy, alone or in two-player co-op, plus a four-player Horde mode.
Arizona Sunshine 2 is a zombie shooter with horror themes from Vertigo Games, released on December 7, 2023, for Quest, SteamVR, PlayStation VR2 and PICO at the same time. It is the sequel to the 2016 game Arizona Sunshine, one of the early VR shooter hits.
Story
You again play the wisecracking survivor from the first game, roaming a sun-baked, post-apocalyptic Arizona overrun by the undead. This time the goal is to track down Patient Zero, and you are not alone: a dog named Buddy joins you early on and stays by your side for the campaign.
How it plays
Combat mixes guns and melee. Reloading is fully manual, ammo is limited, and weapons range from pistols and shotguns to a flamethrower. A new melee system lets you swing machetes, crowbars and pickaxes, and a gore system shows the damage on each zombie. Buddy is more than a mascot: you can send him to attack enemies and fetch items. The campaign can be played solo or with a second player online, and a separate Horde mode supports up to four players.
Comfort
Meta lists the game as comfortable, and it can be played seated or standing; on PS VR2 it also supports room scale. Expect plenty of gore and some jump scares as zombies close in.
