Action Hero is a shooter from Fast Travel Games that casts you as the lead in a run of action movies. You punch dinosaurs, take on ninjas armed with shotguns and avoid traps in big, cinematic set pieces. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on December 12, 2024.
How it plays
Time runs in slow motion and only speeds up when you move, so you can lean out of the path of bullets, grab weapons out of the air and line up shots. The game is split into six movies, each built around a different film genre, and the treasure hunts and trap rooms give it an adventure flavor alongside the shooting.
- Six movie levels, including a heist, a kung-fu story and a treasure hunt through ruins full of traps.
- Each movie changes its challenges, weapons and set pieces, such as rolling boulders and laser grids.
- Large boss fights.
- An Arcade Mode that turns the movies into a chase for high scores.
Comfort
Meta rates Action Hero as comfortable for most people. The developer says it has no forced locomotion, no sudden drops and no artificial camera movement, so you move by physically stepping, ducking and leaning. It supports standing and room-scale play with controllers.
