VirtuClear
The prescription VR lens insert brand of US online optical retailer Frames Direct, known for inserts made with Oculus for Go, Quest, Rift S and Quest 2.
About VirtuClear
VirtuClear is a prescription lens insert brand owned by Frames Direct, a US online retailer of glasses and contact lenses. FramesDirect.com is a service mark of Luxottica of America, part of the EssilorLuxottica group, and VirtuClear inserts are sold only through FramesDirect.com. Frames Direct says the inserts are designed in partnership with Oculus and use 1.60 high-index Essilor lenses with an anti-glare coating. Each order is made to the buyer's eyeglass prescription, which Frames Direct requests after the order is placed.
Products
VirtuClear makes only VR lens inserts. The first were for the Oculus Go, which Oculus listed among the Go's accessories when the headset launched in May 2018, at $79.99 a pair. Frames Direct later added inserts for the Oculus Quest and Rift S. In February 2021 Facebook listed VirtuClear Lens Inserts for Quest 2 on its store, and UploadVR reported a starting price of about $80. Meta's store still lists the Quest 2 inserts, and Frames Direct sells them for $55.99. They are single vision lenses for nearsighted prescriptions from 0 to -8.00 sphere and up to -2.00 cylinder. The Quest and Quest 2 inserts are interchangeable, as are the Rift S and Go inserts. VirtuClear does not list inserts for Quest 3 or Quest 3S, where Meta works with Zenni instead.
