Commedia VR Video Player

Commedia VR Video Player is a free media and video and productivity app from Commedia Studio, built as a home base for your own video library on Quest. The developer emphasizes a smooth user experience and good performance. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on May 31, 2024.

What you can do

Commedia plays the common video formats and supports a wide range of projections.

• Projections: flat and stereo 3D video, VR180, VR360, cubemap and several fisheye layouts.
• File sources: files stored on the headset, or files on your local network through SMB and DLNA.
• Passthrough: watch with your real room visible around the screen.
• Subtitles and audio tracks: switch between them in supported files.
• Browser: a built-in browser that can open YouTube.

The developer runs a Discord server and publishes a public roadmap on its documentation site, so you can see what is planned and request features.

Comfort

Meta rates Commedia VR Video Player as comfortable for most people. Supported play modes are sitting, standing and room-scale, and it uses controllers. Like other video players, it keeps you in one place unless the video itself moves the camera.
