Warplanes: WW1 Fighters is an aerial combat game from Home Net Games that blends shooter and action play with flight simulation. You fly as a pilot during the Great War. It released on the Meta Horizon Store on July 29, 2021.
How it plays
The game is designed to suit both arcade fans and sim fans. Flight models can be set anywhere from forgiving arcade handling to physics based on aerodynamics, and extra options let you take off and land by hand, make the AI more aggressive or switch off the HUD.
- 20 flyable aircraft, from light scouts to heavy bombers
- A pair of story campaigns holding hundreds of missions across varied locations, seasons and times of day
- A squadron to build, with aircraft upgrades and customization
- Medals and skill upgrades that help you run your base
The developer says the game runs at 90Hz on Quest 2.
Multiplayer
Alongside the single-player campaigns, there are PvP and co-op multiplayer modes.
Comfort
Meta rates it as intense. Warplanes: WW1 Fighters is designed for seated play with controllers. Dogfights involve a lot of rolling and diving, so read up on motion sickness in VR if you are new to flying games.
