The Game Awards is the annual video game awards ceremony and showcase produced and hosted by Geoff Keighley. The 2026 show takes place on Thursday, December 10, 2026 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Keighley confirmed the date in August 2026 with the message: 'December 10. Live from Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.'
The official site says the show streams live on all platforms, and that nominees will be announced in mid-November 2026. A start time and specific stream links had not been published at the time of writing. Ticket information was expected to follow in the fall.
Why it matters for VR players:
- The 2025 ceremony included a Best VR/AR Game category, won by The Midnight Walk from Moonhood and Fast Travel Games.
- The 2026 category list and nominees have not yet been announced, so whether the VR/AR award returns will be confirmed with the mid-November nominations.
Alongside the awards, the show traditionally features world premieres and trailers from across the games industry. Viewers can watch online for free; in-person attendance requires a ticket for the Los Angeles venue.
