Razer
The Singapore and Irvine-based gaming hardware brand whose VR line covers Made for Meta head straps, facial interfaces and HyperSpeed earbuds for Meta Quest.
About Razer
Razer Inc. was founded in 2005 by Min-Liang Tan, who is still its CEO, and Robert Krakoff, after the two bought the rights to the Razer brand. The name dates back to a gaming mouse business started in San Diego in 1998. Razer is dual-headquartered in Singapore and Irvine, California, with regional offices in Hamburg and Shanghai. It was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2017 and went private again in 2022. Razer makes gaming mice, keyboards, headsets, controllers and Blade laptops, along with its Synapse and Chroma RGB software and the Razer Gold payment service. Its logo is a green triple-headed snake.
Products
Razer does not sell a VR headset of its own. In the mid-2010s it backed the OSVR open-source VR effort and its HDK developer kit. Its current VR products are accessories for Meta Quest, co-designed with the mask maker ResMed. The Razer Adjustable Head Strap System and Razer Facial Interface for Meta Quest 2 launched in the US in March 2023 at $69.99 each. Quest 3 versions followed on May 3, 2024, and the head strap also fits Quest 3S. The Razer Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Meta Quest, wireless ANC earbuds with a 2.4 GHz USB-C dongle, went on sale in December 2023 at $149.99.
