Mobile VR Station is a Quest video player for 2D and 3D files on flat, dome, spherical, curved and EAC projections, free to try with five-minute playback.
Mobile VR Station is a media and video app with a productivity listing, developed by Michael Fuller and published under the name Michael G Fuller JR. It is a video player for flat and 3D files that can show them on many different projection shapes. It arrived on the Meta Horizon Store on July 25, 2022.
What you can do
The developer describes this as the third rewrite of Mobile VR Station. Earlier versions ran on iOS and Android phones; this one was rebuilt from scratch to run only inside a headset. It handles 2D and 3D video on these projections:
- flat plane
- spherical
- dome and full dome
- curved screen
- EAC
The pricing is freemium. The free download includes every feature, but any video stops after its first five minutes. That gives you time to check that your own files play correctly and that the projection you need is supported before you pay to unlock full-length playback.
Help is available through the developer's Facebook page, and the app links to online tutorials and a detailed help guide.
Comfort
Mobile VR Station supports sitting and standing use and works with controllers or hand tracking. How it feels mostly depends on the video you load. Footage with a moving camera in 360-degree or dome formats can cause motion sickness in VR for some viewers, while a flat screen is usually easy to watch.
